I watched a special on 20/20 tonight about suicide chat rooms. These people get together and talked about being depressed, discuss the best way to kill themselves, and will sometimes even make pacts with each other to commit suicide together or in front of a webcam for everyone to see. This is all so fucking disturbing on so many levels.
It scares me that these people are all feeding off each other in these rooms with no one to snap them back into reality - on the contrary, there is more likely to be someone to push them further towards the edge. I feel for these people, I really do. I have been there on many occasions but suicide is not a good option.
You just have to hold on. I'm not trying to insinuate that things are going to be great all the time either. Things suck sometimes. Mental illnesses are usually chronic, you basically just have to resign yourself to that fact. You will never be "fixed". You will have to take your meds everyday and do what your doctor says and fucking "fake it 'til you make it" like the rest of us. Give the people around you a chance to help you before you do anything drastic. If you don't they'll spend the rest of their lives living with the guilt of wondering if they could have stopped you. You owe it to yourself and everyone who loves you to ask for help.
